The final outstanding N.C. General Assembly primary election from earlier this month is resolved. Ten-term Democratic N.C. Rep. Michael Wray conceded Monday after his election protests and recounts didn’t change the result favoring challenger Rodney Pierce. Wray says he won't ask the N.C. State Board of Elections to review the decisions by elections boards in the three counties that comprise the reconfigured 27th N.C. House District dismissing his formal protests. Wray's requested recounts wrapped up Monday with no new margin changes. Results show Pierce 34 votes ahead of Wray. The decision set the stage for the State Board of Election to certify race results Tuesday.

Sterl Carpenter says that during the first week close to $200 million had been wagered, with $142 million in winnings paid out. The rollout began as the Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament was about to start. Eight entities can now offer mobile and desktop betting in the state.

Polls show Democrats have an advantage over Republicans on health care. Former President Donald Trump, the likely Republican presidential nominee, is denying that he wants to “terminate” the Affordable Care Act. Trump said in a social media post that he wants to make it better, stronger and less expensive.

Authorities say a bus carrying worshippers headed to an Easter festival plunged off a bridge on a mountain pass and burst into flames in South Africa, killing at least 45 people. The only survivor of Thursday's crash was an 8-year-old child, who was receiving medical attention, according to authorities in the northern province of Limpopo. The Limpopo provincial government said the bus veered off the Mmamatlakala bridge and plunged 50 meters (164 feet) into a ravine before busting into flames. Search operations were ongoing, but many bodies were burned beyond recognition and were still trapped inside the vehicle.
